Police Stings in an attempt to limit the number of women prostituting themselves on the streets has been a common occurrence in major cities in the United States including Seattle and Los Angeles. However, Pierce County has recently and successfully tried a new type of sting that targets sexual predators. On July 30th, authorities in Pierce County successfully ran their 8th “Net Nanny” operation. These “Net Nanny” operations lure in child predators by having officers pose as underage children setting up an in-person meeting for sex.

On July 30th, authorities in Pierce County successfully ran their 8th “Net Nanny” operation. These “Net Nanny” operations lure in child predators by having officers pose as underage children setting up an in-person meeting for sex.

In the latest operation, 21 men were arrested and charged with the attempted rape of a child. They are now facing charges that include the rape of a child, commercial sex abuse of a minor and communication with a child for immoral purposes.

The Washington State Patrol's Missing and Exploited Children't Task Force conducted this undercover operation with the goal to protect vulnerable children and improve the safety of communities where sex work has become common.

Seattle has ran multiple undercover police sting operations in South King County including Tukwila and Kent where they have arrested multiple men in an attempt to decrease the massive prostitution industry that is occurring.
